OBJECT OTT / APC
2021
The symbolic trunk shape of the new object represents that Ott brings compelling natural forces from the tree into our everyday living space. The shape is also linked to the fact that this project, Ott/APC, uses Ott, natural resin extracted from a tree, as the main material and alternative glazing to make porcelain reusable after its service life. And the object expresses Ott’s essential and significant uses with its particular look. The shape, silhouette, Ottchilled/lacquered finish of each object are unique and different just like the provision of nature, and this reflects the process of handcrafting. This new object aims to convey the possibility of sustainable use and development of ceramic materials with the practicalities and aesthetics of Ott.
This work is in permanent collection of the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics of the Netherlands and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
